BYD has announced its inaugural all-electric supercar model, the YangWang U9, under its luxury sub-brand, YangWang. Priced at 1.68 million RMB (approx USD 230k), deliveries are scheduled to commence this summer in China.
The YangWang U9 showcases groundbreaking advancements through its utilization of two core technologies: the e4 platform and the DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System. This combination redefines the landscape of all-electric supercars, merging track performance, urban adaptability, and entertaining features.
The e4 Platform, at its core, is a power system featuring four independent electric motors. This system provides agile and precise four-wheel independent torque output control, ensuring the utmost safety, performance, and overall driving experience. With an impressive 1,300 horsepower and a maximum torque of 1680Nm, the YangWang U9 sets a new standard in power.
Introducing the BYD DiSus-X Intelligent Body Control System, the YangWang U9 achieves a maximum adjustable suspension travel of up to 75mm. Additionally, its peak single-axis lifting speed of 500mm/s allows for an instantaneous lifting force of over 1 ton, facilitating remarkable leaps in various driving scenarios. This includes braking, acceleration, cornering, and road impacts, significantly enhancing both vehicle agility and comfort for drivers and passengers. The U9 also boasts a unique feature—dancing to music with just a simple click.
In recent performance tests, the YangWang U9 attained a top speed of 309.19 km/h and accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 2.36 seconds, with a 0-400m acceleration time of just 9.78 seconds. Furthermore, after extensive track testing, the U9 has optimized its thermal management system, resulting in a 100% increase in maximum cooling capacity. Equipped with the Blade Battery for discharging and cooling functions and Dual Plug-in Ultra-fast charging technology with a maximum charging power of 500 kW, the U9 delivers superior efficiency.
The YangWang U9 features a Super Carbon-fiber Cabin, employing various materials and the next-generation CTB technology. This contributes to an unprecedented torsional stiffness of 54425 Nm/deg and a single-side compressive load of the roof exceeding 11 tons, ensuring comprehensive travel safety.
Equipped with the DiLink150 intelligent platform, powered by customized 4nm 5G chips, the YangWang U9 offers intelligent racing assistance for track driving. The cockpit includes two 14-way adjustable seats for an enhanced driving and passenger experience. Additionally, the Dynaudio Evidence Series high-end audio system provides an immersive auditory experience.
